Anesthesiologist
Duties and responsibilities: Administer anesthetic or sedation during medical
procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal or caudal methods. Confer
with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or
sedation to render patient insensible to pain. Coordinate administration
of anesthetics with surgeons during operation. Decide when patients have recovered or stabilized
enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following
outpatient surgery.
Salary: $261,834-$434,762
Education: Even before
entering college, those interested in a career in anesthesiology need to think
about the kinds of classes taken in high school. Classes with a math and
science concentration certainly go a long way in preparing a future. They must
attend a four-year undergraduate program and most will enroll in a pre-medicine
or another science-concentrated program.
Reflection: i would not like to be one because it seems like a hard job.
